Are the writers receiving the major awards and official recognition really the best writers today? Or are they overrated mediocrities with little claim to recognition by posterity? The question is harder than ever to answer today, yet it is a worthwhile exercise to attempt (along with identifying underrated writers not favored by bureaucracy).

fotoElvira Sellerio, 74 anni, figlia di un prefetto, prima di sei fratelli, una laurea in Giurisprudenza, ha vissuto un’appassionata gioventù in quella Sicilia a cavallo tra gli anni ’50 e ’60 che coltivava i fermenti culturali del Gruppo ’63 (che si formò in un vecchio albergo appena fuori Palermo, con Alberto Arbasino, Umberto Eco e scrittori siciliani come Michele Perriera).
